I have been married to my beautiful wife Monica for 15 years. Monica and I met while at Murray State University during band camp (yes we were/are band nerds). After a few weeks of trying to fake not being interested in her, I finally mustered up the courage to ask her out on a date. Luckily, she said yes and the rest is history.
During college I had the opportunity to serve on the summer staff of Crossings Camps at Jonathan Creek where God began to confirm a call on my life to ministry and specifically to be lived out proclaiming the Gospel at camp. I served in 2001 and 2002 on summer staff and after getting married just after the summer of 2003, I was asked to come on full-time with Crossings.
A few years after being married Monica and I decided it was time to begin trying to grow our family. Little did we know that this process would be filled with heartache through miscarriage after miscarriage. Eventually the Lord did allow us to bring Kilee Anne into the world and she is an enormous blessing to our family. Kilee (11) is an interesting mixture of girly girl who loves ballet, singing, dress-up, who also loves to drive a four wheeler and shoot deer when she gets the chance!
Our middle son Josiah who is now eight years old was brought into our home through adoption. The best way to describe Josiah would be to say all-boy. He loves to hunt, fish, and to take care of our animals. Most often he can be found with no shoes and toting a nerf gun ready to shoot the next unsuspecting victim at our house.
Our youngest son, Levi, was also brought into our family through adoption and he is currently 3 years old. Levi is following in big brother’s footsteps and loves to be outside playing with the dog, digging in the sandbox or really anywhere with “Bub” or “sissy.”
As you can tell, I am extremely blessed. We had no idea how God was going to work in our hearts and lives over these last 15 years. Approximately 18 months ago the Lord called us away from Crossings and into the state of Georgia to join a ministry named Connect Ministries. Connect is in a strategic partnership with the WinShape Foundation to plan and execute WinShape Camps for Communities. It has been a joy to see many lives changed in the last two summer with record attendance this summer of nearly 31,000 campers. Most recently I have transitioned from the WinShape Camps team into a new role at Connect, Director of Support Services, where I will have the opportunity to provide support for both the WSCfC team and our newly reformed Church Development team.
Throughout our marriage and ministry we have found things to not always be easy or simple, but we continue to find God being faithful in each circumstance and we are excited about this new season of life and ministry!
